Glioblastoma.IT ODV (Volunteering Organisation)

This week the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region informed us that we have officially been included in the general register of organized volunteering with registration number 1397. I have therefore decided to prepare this short editorial to tell you where we are, to present a work plan for the coming months and provide the coordinates for those of you who wish to contribute to our projects and in particular to the CUSP-ND fundraising campaign: trial to beat Glioblastoma in memory of Emanuele.

It has been 2 years since we launched this website. To date, there have been over 62,000 unique visitors and the month of July hit a record 8500 unique visitors. Over 200 articles have been published. We have developed a new generation conversation chatbot, activated the project that lists research news every 2 months, translated 2 guides on brain tumours and launched a fundraising campaign. This is the geographic distribution of site visitors.

Geographical distribution of visitors to glioblastomamultiforme.it 2 years after the launch.

The goals for the next few months are to continue developing the site, to list the research news every 2 months, to deepen topics of interest, to tell stories of glioblastoma. For the chatbot we are developing a technology that will automatically update it with the new information contained on the site. By the end of the year we would like to consolidate the scientific collaborations we have with some research centers on glioblastoma and with other organizations and foundations dealing with brain tumors. Also by the end of the year, we would like to release the first version of the “Glioblastoma Navigator” application to collect structured information from patients and caregivers. In September we would like to organize an inaugural conference of the Volunteer Organization inviting a neuro-surgeon, a neuro-radiologist and a neuro-oncologist. The conference will use the Zoom platform but will be streamed on YouTube and then recorded. Finally, we would like to continue and intensify the fundraising campaign for the CUSP-ND clinical trial: trial to beat Glioblastoma in memory of Emanuele.

Voluntary Organizations (ODV) such as Glioblastoma.IT ODV are considered, according to Italian law, Third Sector Entities (ETS) and therefore can receive donations. In the case of donations made using traceable means of payment, the same will produce tax benefits to the donor who makes the tax return in Italy. In fact, individuals can deduct the donation from their income for an amount not exceeding 10% of the total declared income or alternatively, deduct 35% of the amount donated from the gross tax up to a maximum of 30,000 euros. Institutions and companies can deduct donations from their income for an amount not exceeding 10% of the total declared income.
As ODV we have therefore opened a bank account. These are the account details:

CrediFriuli CREDITO COOPERATIVO FRIULI branch of RUDA (UD)
Account: 02/21/0050146 IBAN: IT98V0708564480002210050146

It is also possible to make a donation through the PayPal account through the link below.

If you make your Tax declaration in Italy, it is also possible to donate 5 per thousand to Glioblastoma.IT ODV by specifying the Glioblastoma.IT ODV Tax Code in your tax return: CF: 90164660327. You’ll find this information also in the page “Contributions“.

I’d say that’s it for this editorial. We leave you with this sentence that we will use in fundraising campaigns:

“I have glioblastoma, I need a miracle to survive. Help research do this miracle (Anonymous).”
