Research News for the Fifth Two Months of 2026
In the fifth two months of 2026 (September–October), clinical research on glioblastoma was dominated by immunotherapy. The SurVaxM vaccine (SURVIVE study, phase 2b, 233 patients) did not significantly improve survival in the overall population (22.8 versus 20.3 months), but it did in patients aged 65 and under. Imvax’s personalized immunotherapy IGV-001 is preparing for a phase 3 trial in MGMT-unmethylated tumors. Dual blockade with nivolumab plus ipilimumab before surgery increased immune infiltration in recurrent glioblastoma. Duke University’s D2C7 immunotoxin was published in Nature Medicine, and an intravenously administered anti-IL13Rα2 CAR-T completed a phase 1 trial in Korea. The FDA approved Pixclara, the first FET-PET tracer for gliomas in the United States, and a sonodynamic therapy trial opened for “butterfly” glioblastoma. These results are largely preliminary and should always be discussed with one’s own neuro-oncologist.
