TODAY WE START: THE “SPERANZA e CORAGGIO” PROJECT LAUNCHES THE ONLINE PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT SERVICE FOR PATIENTS AND CAREGIVERS
We are thrilled to announce that today the operational phase of the “Speranza e Coraggio” project, the psychological support service for glioblastoma patients and their families funded by Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia and Glioblastoma.IT ODV, officially begins. After months of preparation, testing, and training, the service is now available nationwide—and beyond.
The goal is simple yet profound: to offer a listening ear, guidance, and qualified psychological support to those facing, directly or indirectly, the challenge of glioblastoma.
The “Speranza e Coraggio” project was born from the commitment of Glioblastoma.IT ODV, which has been promoting support initiatives for patients and their families for years, combining technology, science, and humanity. The project now makes something concrete possible: meeting online with specialists in psycho-oncology and neuropsychology, ready to listen, understand, and help.
The sessions are delivered through the Glioblastoma Navigator platform, designed to be simple, intuitive, and accessible to everyone, even those unfamiliar with digital tools. A short video is also available on YouTube explaining how to use the platform in just a few minutes, despite its simple and intuitive nature.
But how does it work? The specialists (currently 20) who have joined the project and completed the specialization program on specific support for brain tumor patients and their families have registered on Glioblastoma Navigator, where they can indicate the days and times they are available for appointments in their personal calendar.
Users – patients or family members – can register for free on the platform and complete a short questionnaire describing the patient’s condition and medical history. Once registration is complete:
- Select the “Psycho-oncology / Neuropsychology” specialization;
- The system displays a list of available specialists, each with a brief professional profile;
- Select your preferred specialist and book the desired time slot;
- The platform automatically sends a booking confirmation, a video conference link, and a reminder before the appointment.
After the initial meeting, the specialist can schedule additional sessions with the same patient, ensuring continuity and a personalized support program.
The “Speranza e Coraggio” project offers a completely free service, accessible to anyone experiencing glioblastoma and other brain tumors, regardless of location.
The entire system is designed as a space for digital and human solidarity, where technology becomes a bridge between those in need and those who can offer it.
To evaluate the project’s effectiveness, a questionnaire based on the CORE-OM methodology has been implemented. This questionnaire will be administered by the specialist during the first session and after a certain number of meetings.
This data, collected anonymously, will allow us to scientifically measure the impact of the service and contribute to research on the psychological well-being of cancer patients.
The Navigator platform has been designed to be flexible enough to accommodate other specialties (neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neuro-oncology, etc.) and become an increasingly useful tool for the patient and professional community.
Our goal remains to put technology at the service of individuals, fostering empathy, knowledge, and collaboration.
